When your car starts to get up there in mileage I use everything I can to help extend its life. I use these with Mobil ! synthetic oil. My brother bought a 1989 F-150 with the straight six and used this set up exclusively. When he parted it out at 289,000 miles the engine oil looked like it came right out of the bottle. The engine is in its second vehicle and still runs strong.

If the Motorcraft FL-1A isn't available then this filter is a good replacement. Built using most of the same methods that make the FL-1A a good filter. Isn't quite as large as the FL-1A but will hold almost 1 quart of oil.

Used this on a 2009 Charger R/T as a cheap filter to use for a short time after a rebuild. After break in a Mopar 899 will be used. Nothing wrong with this one, it's built well.

Note: the cap wrench for this has changed. It was a 93mm 15 flute. It is now 91mm 15 flute. For those of us with fords that the only way to get to the filter is with a cap wrench this change is important. To get the newer 91mm filter off with a 93mm cap wrench I put a red towel over the wrench and then put it onto the filter. This took out the slack and gave the wrench the grip it needed to get the filter off. Since then I have gotten a 91mm 15 flute that fits.
