Product Details
Part No. FL-820S
Warranty Details (2 Year Warranty)
The Motorcraft Original Equipment Oil Filter is designed, engineered and recommended by Ford Motor Company. This filter helps protect against engine wear by screening out abrasives, such as carbon, sand, dust and bits of metal before they can get into your oil.

Product Features:
  • Pressure-relief valves help minimize the chance of contaminated oil circulating back into the engine
  • Pressure-relief valves also help maintain the supply of oil to the engine under extreme cold conditions or if the filter gets clogged
  • Steel cases are "ironed" for a precise fit, fluted to ease removal and painted to resist rust
  • Efficient filter media offers increased dirt-collecting capability and ability to capture more engine-harming particles

Good filter bang for the buck!!!!
I've used this specified filter on my 94 Taurus 3.8L for 19+ years now. It's top end is still squeaky clean. The new shorter version of this filter has more filter media pleats, so it isn't shy any filter media surface area as some suppose, because its shorter than the original version. The extra media surface area allows the filter to hold more debris without undue pressure drop across the media. So we get good flow through the filter media, while filtering out smaller particles as the oil gets dirtier & the filter media loads up during the oil change intervial Ford redesigned & shortened the filter up, so it could be used on newer engines with restricted spaces, but even though it's shorter, it still has as much filter media surface area as the older longer version. It's published particle size filter specifications are the Min. Ford allows, not what the filter is capable of. UOA particle counts show it to do a much better job than the min numbers would suggest, more like what a Purolator Classic filter does. It's more expensive to produce base end bypass valve location is where it belongs for inverted filter mounting, so if it goes into the bypass/unfiltered mode on a cold high rpm start, or when we get crazy & go WOT to pass, with the base end by-pass valve location it won't suck up debris washed off the filter media, or stirred up settled out dome end debris, like a less expensive to produce dome end bypass filter design could & that's good engineering design thinking by Ford on its inverted, or canted mounted oil filters. The silicone anti-drainback valve will be more pliable & seal better in cold weather, preventing empty filter start up wear & dry cold starts & the resulting engine rattle those empty filter cold dry starts cause, so folks in really cold country will likely appreciate the silicone anti-drainback valve. I also use this shorter filter on the Wife's 2000 Dodge Neon ohc engine & its eliminated the start up knock the Neon always had with the specified OEM Chrysler filter, that's so short it looked like it belonged on a danged lawn tractor engine!!!! It's a good filter bang for the buck for these & a Lot more reasons!!!!

Superior products with TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !
Used to service my personal vehicle. The product was fine-the purchase process was terrible ! My first experience using the online ordering process. Thought I completed the order online correctly. Went to store to pick up items. Was told I could not receive the 20% discount as advertised and I would need to complete the order online ONLY to get the discount. The store had the oil but didn't have the filter. I agreed to return home to complete online order. Said they would pick up the filter in about an hour, and I could pick up order then. Came back in about 3 hours-no one seemed to know anything about it. Finally found out the filter was coming from Gastonia and was in route to store. I agreed to return to store late that day to pick up filter. I returned to store later and found out the Gastonia store didn't fill the filter order ! This was beyond belief at this point, so I asked if they would just deliver my filter to my home, and they agreed to send it the next morning by about 10:00 AM.I called the store after 10:00 to see where filter was, and was told they would deliver it. They did so and just dropped it on porch with no receipt. I called later and asked at what point should I have received a receipt. Was told I should have received it earlier from store. I had to return to store to get my receipt. WHAT A NIGHTMARE !!!!!
