Used at a 90 degree bend with a support hanger on exhaust pipe. Pipes almost always rust through at bend and hangers, as the weld spots create weak spots One must buff any rust. I used a wire wheel on a drill. Then cleaned pipe off with lacquer thinner. Then one must heat pipe by letting car run 3- 5 mins. Then I wrap tape on warm pipe. I cut tape in two , the tape will stick to warm pipe at start end with one wrap then with my hand I rotate around pipe making sure the glue has stuck to pipe. Then I continue wrapping and rotating my hand with good pressure until at end. Keep rotate with hand all tape has grabbed. If one thinks one wrap is good, no. The exhaust pressure will blow through tape. One must wrap at least three times and always forming tape with hand around for good adhesion. Then I put lock wire around tape at ends and center. Its like a hockey stick, wrapping and forming. With this technic I have got good results. I have replaced this pipe three times. It is an older car. So now I wrap it. The will last 6 plus months. There is no way this a permanent fix it is tape not metal. If you apply correctly it does what is says. I read some comments and wonder how they apply it and what one expects for $6 and change. I hope this info will help in the future.

Very good product
So the key to making sure this really works is to clean the spot very well , then scratch it up with sand paper , before you put it on get a peace of aluminum can and cover the spot. Then once you wrap it up , wrap wire around it to make sure it really stays tight .

Will not buy again
This product was not worth the time or money spent. Put on as directed and fell off before I had even traveled 2 miles. Will definately not buy this product again.

Poor product, lousy customer service.
Verified Buyer -
poor product. Tape did not stick to the exhaust or even to ITSELF! Manager said it was because I didn't sand the pipe, but I don't think I was supposed to SAND THE TAPE to make it stick to itself. I purchased another brand of muffler repair tape from an autoparts store right across the street. Different brand, but same tape (which was difficult to prepare - had to remove very thin plastic from both sides of the tape), and it stuck to both itself and to the exhaust without sanding. Won't be buying much from Advance in the future. I understand products can have issues, but the manager just assuming I had installed it incorrectly left me with a poor opinion of Advance.
Works exactly as advertised
great product at a great price and is also a permanent fix unlike the other similar products which are temporary fixes as advertised and other products also cost more
