CHANGE YOUR TRANS FLUID ASAP! Save the trannies!!!
I want to chime in here and share some information. If you have a high mileage used car. Changing
your transmission fluid won't hurt a thing. This is a on going myth for years now. For some reason people wait until they're experiencing issues with their automatic transmission before finally changing its fluid. (DO NOT DO THAT) Change your fluid now and do it asap! If your transmission is working and shifting okay, CHANGE THAT FLUID! IT IS CRITICAL! I have a 2005 Tahoe Z71 with 232K miles on it. This truck runs and shifts amazing! I bought (2) gallons of this stuff to drain and fill. Transmission temps dropped a good bit. I use my Tahoe to tow junk cars and trucks with. I am pulling 7,000-8,000+ pounds numerous times per week. I have almost got my fluid perfectly clean in the 4L60E, well technically I have a 4L65E, but they look almost the same externally. Anyways, I drained out 5 quarts, then added 5 quarts. I drove for a few miles, then did the same thing again. I really need two more jugs to get it perfect. I performed this service about 1,500 miles ago. Very happy I did. I want to add that my transmission worked perfect before doing this. Valvoline oils are the absolute best in 2026. Especially their Restore & Protect engine oil. Anyways. Change your transmission fluid! Make sure you add back exactly what you take out. Unless your transmission is slam full of stop slip to keep it going, then flushing or changing its fluid is only going to help it and prolong its life! Save the trannies!

Exactly what the title says. You need a syncromesh fliud for these transmissions

Good fluid, a little pricy
I have been using this since I built a new trans for my daily driver. I have used this 4 times in a row, the fluid seems to hold up well. I do not see much "sludge" in the bottom of the trans pan (there is always some in an automatic, but it does seem to be notably less on this fluid). It still looks mostly clean and of a nice slightly darker pink color when I flush it around 36,000 miles. I have never seen this fluid burn or discolor badly, though I do not run extreme intervals. I am confident that I could push this fluid well beyond the 36,000 mile recommended interval from GM for my 2008 car ( I know a lot of newer cars have longer intervals) but do not see a reason to take the risk. Dexron VI is a good fluid spec anyway, buy I view the extra few dollars for a good synthetic as a small insurance policy to keep my transmission healthy. I would recommend the fluid, but I would also recommend looking for a sale price on it.
Also, ignore the 2 star rating, seems irrelevant, and is only disappointment that Dexron VI is not a lower spec fluid? Not actually a review of this fluid.
