Most Liked Positive Review
everyone should use synthetic oil!
with the cost of regular oil up and cost of synthetic holding around $4 a quart and less on sale...everyone should be using synthetic oil! Less oil changes between changes, less polution of dumped oil in the environment, cost less overall based on total number of changes in a year.
Most Liked Negative Review
Not so easy to pour
Just picked this up and specifically thought I could pour directly from the bottle into the engine without a funnel. That's not the case. I ended up spilling just as much as if there was no "easy pour" opening. The oil works just fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this product.

As before...Been using this oil in my '06 and it's been smooth running.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
I've tried this in my Audi 3.0 Quattro.
I've had my Audi for about a year now. I am not sure what brand of oil was in it from when I got it. However, by the time 6,000mi hit, it needed a quart. I used the recommended weight in Mobil 1. Within 1,000mi or so, it consumed half of that quart. After that happened, I was somewhere near the 7000+ mile mark on the service interval. I started to top off with Valvoline SynPower. While I still had oil consumption every 800 miles or so, I noticed I was having to replenish a lot less oil with each top off. So the consumption per mile as I approached 10,000 miles was decreasing. I looked at a service bulletin from Audi, and with 1 exception or so, Mobil 1 wasn't on the list as being compatible. However, Valvoline SynPower is listed as being compatible. I tried the Valvoline SynPower. The vehicle ran a lot quieter, smoother, and more responsive in comparison. Audi's by nature will consume a certain amount of oil over time. With 3,000 miles of the 10,000mi service interval, I've had to replenish 250mL (about 1/4 of a quart) so far over periods of 500-800 miles. The most I've had to top off was 100mL after some extra idling in traffic, and a little more performance oriented run. As with various German or performance engines, a certain amount of carbon buildup will happen pending driving conditions. I've noticed less frequency of carbon buildup or any sign of that as compared to what I suspect was Mobil 1. On a technical note, there are published online sources that say independent labs have measured a higher pH with the Valvoline as compared to most other brands, but it does have a lower flashpoint than others. It does have a more detergent compared to other brands-granted. So far, I can't complain about it one bit. The only one real con with the SynPower is the color. A lot of times, certain synthetics will have a golden honey color and remain that way for a while. Some look brownish gold from the container. The Valvoline initially looks brownish on the stick. However, with time, I can see the stain between the rings of my stick to denote the correct oil level. Other than that, it can have a shiny, colorless appearance on the stick. It takes a little getting use to on observation. In short, if you have a German vehicle or other performance engine, SynPower holds up remarkably well. Chemically speaking, it is a poly alpha-olefin oil. As such, you have more double bonds between carbon atoms in the molecule-which means it takes more to break it down as compared to a hydrocracked oil. There is another brand that is heavily marketed online that some people swear by. While it may do well on all lab tests, keep in mind that that particular brand is for racing. As such, it has a higher content of phosphorus and zinc. The catalytic converter of any vehicle will not like it, and you risk decreasing the life of the catalytic converter as such. With the SynPower, assuming you don't overfill the engine with oil, you won't have that issue with the Valvoline SynPower. Another nice thing I've noticed is that you can buy this brand and weight in a 5 quart container. The only bad thing is I have to buy 2 other individual quart sized containers to change the oil and have a little leftover for replenishing as needed. I have recommended this brand to a friend overseas who has a lot of friends that are Audi owners and car enthusiasts. I've used Valvoline oils for years. I've never had any issue with any oil manufactured by them. I'm quite impressed with the SynPower. My overseas friend was impressed with my experiences with the 5W30 grade of Valvoline SynPower also. If you want a good synthetic oil, this is quite possibly the way to go. Keep in mind that I routinely reach engine speeds over 5000 RPM, and I have kissed 7000 RPM more than once. Part of the VW/Audi specification is that there must be adequate flow over the cams and such at high engine speeds. This oil delivers-period.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Good for the price
For the price you can't ask for a better deal and better oil. Regardless synthetic is always better than conventional oil.
