Product Information

Product Details
Part No. D4157
Warranty Details (1 YR REPLACEMENT IF DEFECTIVE)
Opening your vehicle's rear hatch or checking under the hood should not be a serious safety hazard for you, your family or the technician working on your vehicle. Just like tire wear, your hood lift supports lose strength over time. Temperature changes, frequent usage, and driving environments all affect the lift power. StrongArm lift supports are designed for the everyday driver to be installed in minutes with no special tools required.

Save money and replace these yourself
I purchased these to replace the worn-out hood lift struts on my 2006 Accord. They were surprisingly easy to install and a perfect fit for this application. Note the orientation of the mounting bracket where it bolts to the hood before removing it. Then support the hood with something (I used a broom stick), remove two bolts attaching the strut to the hood, use a flat screwdriver to release the clip on the ball joint, and pull. When installing the new struts I bolted the top end to the hood first, then pressed the ball joint together on the bottom end. The Honda dealer wanted to charge almost $200 for this 10-minute job -- ridiculous!

Not An Exact Duplicate, But It Works
Product fits exactly, which is good. However, this is REVERSED from original. Original lifts had the cylinder mounted on the car with the piston attached to the hood. These have the piston attached to the car and the cylinder attached to the hood. All seems to work fine, however.

are these made in china or another country? Are there other parts needed with it or is two of them everything it takes to replace worn out hood supports?

Hi Rachel, I'm glad to assist you! Advance Auto Parts does sell Made in the USA products as well as products manufactured from many other countries in order to keep our pricing competitive. Please also keep in mind that many suppliers have multiple manufacturing plants that could result in different countries of origin for the same part. This Strong Arm Hood Lift Support - Part # D4157 is sold individually. You've to reuse the existing mounting hardware and bracket.
Is this a single strut or a pack of two, given that every hood needs two struts.
