The Strong Arm lift cylinders are a top notch product. I bought these for the tailgate on my wife's 2002 Caravan Sport. As a mechanic, all too often I encounter bad lifts and either the hood or tailgate on a vehicle won't stay up. In the RV business, the lifts are often used on side doors of motor homes. There's nothing worse than trying to replace a generator carburetor with one had while holding the compartment door up with the other.

The Strong Arm lifts are very versatile. The ones that bolt in, such as tailgate applications, have the new screws in place already. The snap clip versions only require a small screwdriver to release them from the mounting stud.

Two thumbs up for Strong Arm Lifts.

Comments about Strong Arm Lift Support:

These were a perfect fit for my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. You will need a T40 star bit to remove the old struts and install the new ones. I didn't have anyone to help me so I used a 6 foot level to support the rear door while removing the old struts. The old screws didn't want to come out so I had to use Channellock pliers to get them loose and then finished with a T40 star bit.

Easy install and price was fair. Took me 10 mins to do it myself. You'll need to buy a T-40 star bit too.

Comments about Strong Arm Lift Support:

Replacing the 15 year old OEM gas-charged liftgate struts with these StrongArm service struts made a HUGE improvement, as-expected, with the lift height and lift force, but also unexpectedly eliminated a strange clunking within the left side hinge area. I would have installed these a couple of years ago if I had known it was going to fix that issue for the reasonable cost that these are. Fairly easy to install, with the suggestion to have a helper, to make the job go smoother. I also recommend adding a little anti-seize to the ball-stud screw threads (the ball-studs are pre-installed on this strut per this particular application) and perhaps a little silicone grease to the ball joint itself for a lower-friction, longer-lasting interface.

Comments about Strong Arm Lift Support:

The Strong Arm products are great, but the rear lift door on a Dodge Caravan is quite HEAVY. A word somewhere in the packaging about properly bracing the door SECURELY before removing the old parts would be wise.

how to install the directions on sleeve are quite vague and useless

          A:

I'm happy to help, Dd! Here are the steps : Open hood and prop it open. You want the hood to be supported since you're removing the lift and you do not want the hood closing on you. Start at the top of the sleeve, where it attaches to the hood. You'll see a clip. Turn it so you can slide it towards you. Take a small flat head screwdriver and gently pry the upper half up enough to slide it off the knob and slide it off. Save clip to re-use. Disconnect the sleeve from the hood, leaving the sleeve and the piston within still connected on the bottom. Look for a button on the plastic sleeve. Simply press it and slide the sleeve towards you. The hood support may be oily, so you may wish to wear gloves or have a paper towel handy. As you slide the plastic sleeve out, the piston will latch again in the sleeve. Simply push the button again and slide the sleeve out the rest of the way. Set it aside to re-use. Using a flathead screwdriver, press on the metal clip on the piston, which should be attached to your car. As you press, gently tug the piston way from the connector. In my case, I was able to use a flathead screwdriver under the metal clip to pry it open, and could slide the hood support off. On the other end of the piston, you'll see the plastic piece with the button. You have to unscrew it to use it with your new hood support. Use an adjustable wrench on the plastic, and a common pipe wrench to hold the old hood support in place. To prevent it from slipping, wrap some masking tape around the piston. The button-assembly is stiff, but it can be unscrewed. Now, just reverse the process. Screw the button assembly onto the new hood support; make sure to screw it all the way down. Slide the button assembly/support into the sleeve, pressing the button at the first catch, so that the hood assembly latches on the second catch. Then, pop the end of the hood support onto the lower knob in the engine compartment. Make sure it's firmly attached. Then, slide the end of the sleeve onto the knob on the hood. Take the clip and slide it on until it latches.
