Slime Effortless Tire Repair: Drill Bit Tire Plug Kit

I watched the instructional video linked on the package, and it is missing some details. My first try failed and I had to pull that plug out. Here is what did for the second try: 1) The reaming bit gets HOT after you use it. Don't touch it with bare hands when you remove from the tire or your drill. I have a blister to prove why not. 2) Wear some gloves you don't care about (nitrile gloves seem OK) to thread the tip of the strip into the eyelet. I had to squeeze one end to just barely get it through, and then pull the rest through to the midway point with pliers. 3) Pull the strip to the far end of the bit, then coat it all around (front, back, left, right) with the included adhesive. The way shown in the video did not work for me the first time. 4) Once you have the plug in, you have to pull it STRAIGHT out. Wiggling (like I tried with the first attempt) will break the seal or the strip. To pull the bit straight out of the tire, open your drill chuck, take the drill off, then grab the bit vertically with some vice grips, then pull. I don't see how it's possible to pull straight out with the bit still in the chuck. 5) The adhesive takes a few minutes to work. Once you pull the bit out, start inflating, then pause, and check for leaks. I just did it by ear because I was in a quiet enough place. If you hear hissing from the plug, gently grab the exposed tip with a paper towel, twist clockwise and push down to work the adhesive in between the strip pieces. The plug seemed to work once it looked like bubble gum stuck to the outside of the tire. Once I had the bubble gum look, i inflated the rest of the way, and it seems to hold, at least overnight; time will tell. Why a plug? Because that's all local shops will do around here now and they charge $40 for it. They won't patch anymore. Also, they'll only plug a hole exactly centered in a groove in the middle of the tire: They won't touch anything in the raised tread or within 2 inches of the shoulder.

The drill part is too large in diameter. I had a leak from a wire brush sized wire bristle, so it was small. I didn't go hog wild with the drill but dud ream it out as you might expect. Then 1 plug it leaked bad, tried 2 plugs & it still leaked after letting it dry with sealant on overnight with no psi then aired in the morning. Double plug got me to the tire store but they didn't have my size & on way home plug blew out on me. These are the absolute worst product I have gotten of any sort in quite awhile. The ropes are bigger diameter than some brands but the tool is too big, just use a hand reamer instead this is a ghastly dangerous gimic.
