Outperforms any starter/charger I've had
The Schumacher starter/charger is super handy to have around, especially since I have a 2nd, older car that I don't drive too often. The jump starter got it started right up. I'm excited to have the charger as well in case of emergency or if I need to charge a 6v or 12v battery.

Do not trust your battery to this charger.
I bought unit specifically because it was a "smart" charger for AGM batteries. My mistake.
I plugged my battery in and after charging overnight, checked my batteries ablitiy to hold a charge. NOT GOOD. I put the charger back on in the 12 charging mode and measured the voltages applied. The charger was applying 15.7 volts to and AGM batter. WAY TO MUCH. I think this battery has been damaged.

Charged completely depleted battery
Great charger. I bought a cheaper charger that wouldn't charge a fully depleted battery. Which is pretty much useless if you really need to get it going. I used this one to jumpstart and charge a battery that I accidentally depleted to zero volts. As soon as I plugged it in she connected and started to boost. Put it in start mode and had to wait 3 minutes for the charger to say ready. And it fired right up.

Great charger
Had a brand new battery that I put in my beater car. Didn't realize that I had a light on. Battery completely died. I purchased a cheaper charger that wouldn't even touch the battery. Returned and bought this one. As soon as I hooked this one up it started boosting the battery. Put it in start mode and waited the 3 minutes till ready light came on and the car fired right up. The battery was completely D E D d e a d. Not even spark. This thing got it going and I left it on overnight to completely recharge to 100%.

This charger is totally automatic. Just connect it up and plug it in. It does the rest. When the battery gets to 100% it goes to trickel.

Highly Recommend!
Getting a battery charger/engine starter for your household seriously does not get any better than this! It is super easy to use and labeled quite well. My husband is a mechanic so I know my way around these pretty well but I would feel as confident using this if I were a single woman needing to start my car or charge a battery. It charges fast and hardly makes any noise at all while charging. The cord length was perfect and I love that it has a wrap up bracket for the cables. One positive feature that I am quite impressed with is the reverse hook up protection. I just have to boast about this because I think we've all heard stories of hooking up cables to the wrong posts!

I bought this a few years back and it worked well at charging batteries. The manual is not very easy to understand or follow. I figured out to just hook it up to the battery and ignore it until charged. I could never get the different charging modes to work. Today I accidentally reversed the cables for just a second and got a big spark and then nothing. I unplugged it for an hour and tried again and still nothing. What happened to the reverse cable hookup protection??? It states that it has this protection in the product description but it sure didn't work and now this charger is dead.
