Permatex Form-A-Gasket No. 2 Sealant is a slow-drying, non-hardening sealant approved for use in aviation as well as automotive applications. It is resistant to gasoline, oil and grease. For a fast-drying check out Permatex's Form-A-Gasket No. 1 Sealant.

I use form-a-gasket for all kinds of stuff - one tube lasts for years without drying out. I use it on air compressor hose fittings instead of telfon tape. The tape can tear and get caught in small orifices like those in my paint sprayer. Using form-a-gasket I dont have to worry about this. I use it when I rebuild an engine. Great to hold new gaskets in place on transmission and oil pans, water pumps, and thermostat housings. And I sometimes use it as the name suggests - to form a gasket. I've been using it for 35 years and I would recommend it to anyone.

vent cap replacement on plastic gas can recommends Three Bond 1184 or equivalent. Is this product an equivalent?
