This sensor-safe, low odor, non-corrosive formula meets performance specifications of OE silicone gaskets and can be used on high flexibility and high oil resistant applications such as timing covers, transmission pans and oil pans.

Little tube seals up a ford Differencial, but at $2 plus the price is high for what you get.

Good product, bad value
RTV ultra black is very good stuff, probably the best you can buy - but considering the pricetag, you may be better off getting the larger size(0.5oz vs 3.35oz). I had a very small repair and it was perfect for the job. If you need two you already paid more than the large size. Problem is the larger size dries out if you don't have another job within a year or so.

I applied this product to aid in sealing a transmission gasket between the pan and the housing. I let the product cure for 5 days (required is 24hrs) since the temperature was below 50deg F at night. So far, no leaks after 5 days with 150 miles driven.

No Randy. That will fail. You must take everything apart and reapply the Ultra Black.

No, Jim! This Permatex Ultra Black Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker - Part # 22072 dries in 1 hour, and fully cures in 24 hours, at 70˚F – 50% relative humidity. Allow more time in cold weather.
Can you just use this only to make a gasket without actually using a gasket plus this product

Yes, it is a gasket maker. It helps for surfaces to be flat. Surfaces need to be cleaned with brake parts cleaner so that they are oil free. Works great!

Yes many people have used this product alone as a gasket without issues. Be
sure to use enough to form a seal though. I used it in addition to an
actual gasket since most gaskets are dirt cheap (On amazon at least).

No. When using a paper or cork gasket, use the permatex grey sealant. Use the black rtv either by itself or with a rubber gasket for best results.
