Saved me a lot of trouble
The mating surfaces of the aluminum thermostat housing on my '86 S-15 truck have become pitted and otherwise distorted. The regular gasket does not provide enough seal, but so far this stuff has. I'm very pleased and would recommend it for such situations as mine.

Ended up not needing it...
Replacing old thermostat, bought this gasket and silicone as well as O-ring. After removing housing, found that previous (factory) installation had only used O-ring, no gasket or silicone. I decided to follow that example in installing replacement, and used O-ring only, returning gasket and silicone to store. Seems to be working fine so far, no leaks.

Does what it should do. RTV sealant that keeps the water where it should be. I always use this in addition to rubber or felt gaskets around the thermostat housing or on water pump gaskets.
