Permatex's Thread Sealant outperforms traditional tapes and pipe dopes, it seals and resists pressure in air, oil, diesel fuel and hydraulic systems. Thread Sealant remains pliable at higher and lower temperatures.

Great for sealing threads
I used this on my 1991 Mercedes 300D 2.5 Turbo when replacing the belt tensioner, on the 26mm hex bolt that threads into the timing cover. Required to prevent oil leakage. Worked great. Also put a thin coating on the water pump and water outlet bolts. The brush in cap applicator is nice. You could also use this for home plumbing projects in place of fiddly Teflon tape. Great product!!

Just doesn't work
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING I have used this product on leaked. Fuel fittings leaked. Brass senders in intake manifolds leaked. I had to take everything apart and use yellow teflon tape to stop the leaks.

Exactly what I needed
Needed for sealing pinion flange splines, local hardware store only had pipe thread goop…out of several auto parts stores advance was the only one to have in stock.
