Q:I have a 2001dodge 2500 v-8 4wd and I have a leak coming from the bottom of steering gear box that connects with the pit man arm and need to know what repair kit I need. Thanks for your help and time .
A:Hi Steve! This Powercraft Steering Gear Major Seal Kit (Part No. 8776) is an exact fit for your 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup V8 and its working depends on the exact cause of the leak. It can be hard to tell sometimes if the leak is in the box or the lines, but if its only the lines then the seal kit will work fine. However, I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.
Q:The description of this kit says 4wd. Is the steering unit the same on 2wd as 4wd?
A:Hi Tom! To check the exact fit application for the part number 8776, please provide us with the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle.
Q:my steering gear box leaks from the top shaft will this kit fix the problem?
A:Hi Newbie, to check the exact fit application for the part number 8776, please provide us the year, make, model and engine size of your vehicle.
Q:You say this is not a rebuild kit, but if the power steering gear box is leaking, can you fix it with this kit? and if so how difficult is it? I am a newbie to the power steering gear box issue and the box looks fairly new and in good condition, its just leaking fluid. Would hate to spend a few hundred repairing it if it can be fixed with 12 dollars worth of seals. Thanks
A:I'm glad to be of assistance, Jojo! This seal kit may work but it depends on the exact cause of the leak. It can be hard to tell sometimes if the leak is in the box or the lines. If its only the lines then the seal kit should be enough.
Q:Is this the rebuild kit for the steering gear box?
A:No, its only a seal kit.
Q:Do I need special tools to install this kit?
A:No, special tools are required to install this kit.
