Worth every penny

After looking at several different manufacturers, I settled on this product. The storage case is a huge benefit to this model. Also that I could find, no other compressor had locking pins on the clamps. The pins do require a little extra motivation to release but when compressing a spring I would rather have the pins tight than loose. With a little DIY knowledge and some basic tools this compressor could save you 100s of dollars. If you own more than one vehicle with struts it could quickly save you 1000s.

Worked Perfect for Struts on 1997 E36 BMW M3
I rented this compressor tool to change the struts on my 97 BMW M3 sedan and the tool worked perfectly. It is built solidly and grabs onto the spring coils with confidence. I was skeptical at first since I had heard that this type of spring compressor would not work on this type of BMW. I found, however, that even though the OEM springs have less coils (sport springs) the tool was still able to grab onto three coils on each side and did so safely. I did not use an impact gun to tighten it, just used my trusty 1/2 SK ratchet with a 19mm socket and plenty of anti-seize on the threads. I should point out that the best fit was achieved by reversing the orientation of one side. i.e. One bolt head is sitting at the top, while on the other side, the bolt head is at the bottom. Overall a great tool that exceeded my expectations.

Pay attention they will give you a used set
Again they gave me a used tool ask for a new tool and make sure you check it out (open the box) Yes those are stripped threads.

Basically free... except for the gas and time to pick up.
I used for a 2001 Tundra without any issues. Replaced OEM struts with adjustable Bilstein 5100's. Worked perfect but needed to crank down on them to compress enough to put back together. Keep in mind that if using this setup, you need to mak up for an extra inch. May not sound like much until you're trying to get the new nut started. Installed new strut mounts at the same time. Ride is probably as good as new and truck now sits level.
