Bought 2 of these seals, 710058, as I have 2 Jeep TJ's that are having the same leak. Apparently, getting the fluid too hot causes these seals to give out. Anything over 200 deg is not good. And without a fitting / gauge, you are oblivious to just how hot they get. Anyway, I installed 26k BTU coolers on both, so hopefully now after the seal change, we're good. BTW, coolers keep the fluid well below 200. The hottest I have seen is 195, and that is on a LONG pull up the mountain without the TC locked. So I can just imagine what it was before the cooler (and gauge)! Most of the time, they run between 95 and 155, depending on outside temp. I'll take it!
But, back to the seals: 1998 and 2000 Jeep Wranglers, 4.0L, 32RH trannys. This is a single lip seal, direct replacement. I did use a bit of Ultra Black around the outside, just to ensure that I wouldn't have a seep between the seal and casing. I don't want to do this again anytime soon! Just FYI, if you want to replace the T-case seal while it's out, that seal is 710928 (double lip upgrade). NP231J trans case. But, nothing bad to report as yet, been 2 days, and still a dry skid plate. Good sign. Sorry for rambling, but some reviews are lacking. I wanted to give background, application, result.
Wish this seal was available in a slightly wider, double lip. That would have been awesome.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
