Fit of this part varies by vehicle & equipment specs Type of Fit

The blaster 3 coil features an extra tall tower design to improve the coil wire attachment and spark isolation. Supplied with a 90 deg terminal and boot. If you are looking to upgrade your stock coil or want to compliment the performance of your MSD 6-Series Ignitions, our blaster coils are the right choice. These canister style coils share the same special windings and high voltage output as the other blaster 2 coils, but do not include a ballast resistor. When you are using an MSD Ignition control, the ignition is responsible for delivering the voltage to the coil so a ballast resistor is not necessary.

Product Features:
  • Extra tall tower design, low resistance, improved turns ratio produces a powerful spark
  • Sturdy metal housing finished in red, supplied with a 90 deg terminal and boot
  • Improved coil wire attachment and spark isolation with tall tower

Comments about MSD Ignition Coil, Blaster 3:

My mistake to order wrong ohm's rated coil. ask for RMA to return and order proper coil. Willing to pay shipping, restocking, the whole thing. Yet I have yet to get a RMA. So now I'm stuck with a coil I can't use and will have to go elsewhere to buy the correct coil. Your customer service SUCKS.

Comments about MSD Ignition Coil, Blaster 3:

Good product, in most cases cheaper than an OEM replacement. People would have no problems with these if they would read the instructions and realize a resistor is needed for use on a stock ignition system.

Comments about MSD Ignition Coil, Blaster 3:

Regretably the Blaster 3 coil is not a direct fit for my 76 Ford F100. My coil has mushroom tops that allow the coil connections to slide and snap on. I did not find any mushroom tops within the packaging and I am not going to waste time finding the impossible. I will try to find something that is an improved direct replacement for my coil. I have heard very good things about the Blaster 3 coil but, unfortunately, I cannot confirm any of them. If mushroom tops had been included in this coil or listed as an option to buy I would definitely tried this product.

I bought this to replace my stock coil since i was upgrading my ignition to a MSD Streetfire setup.I wired it and and the hardest thing was putting on the plug terminal but that wasnt to bad after i saw how. Great product and it make my old ram run like a dream. Plus the msd setup makes it take off

                    A:

This MSD Ignition Blaster 3 Coil with part# 8223 is universal and not a direct fit for your 1966 Chevy Impala. This MSD Blaster 3 coils put out 45,000 V are 15,000 more than stock. They also have an oil-filled metal canister and will fit stock mounting brackets. The coils have a unique Power Tower that is twice as high as a standard tower. The extra distance prevents secondary arcing between the primary terminals and the coil center. The HEI-style boot and terminal keep the coil wire secure.

This could possibly be the problem. However, with out the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it nor provide you with a 100% answer.

You could go to your nearest Advance Auto Parts store and see if you could speak to a parts specialist to see if that part will work well with your vehicle. But it is specified as universal.
