Great performing plugs!
I had installed another brand of platinum plugs in a friend's car about 30,000 miles ago. The owner said her car was no longer starting as quickly as it used to and, being familiar with her car, I agreed.
I removed all the old plugs from the four cylinder 4AF engine and checked them. They were not fouled and looked ok. I almost put them back in again because they were supposed to be good for 55,000 miles, but at the last minute I decided to buy new plugs and experiment to see if it made a difference in ease of starting.
I was amazed at the variety of plugs Advance lists on their web site, pages and pages of them. I tried to find plugs constructed similarly to the ones used previously as I had always been very pleased with those but they no longer seem to be made in that style by that manufacturer.
I found plugs made by Motorcraft and the price was less than most of the other platinum plugs listed and I knew Motorcraft to be a reliable brand so I finally decided on those.
Yes, the new Motorcraft plugs did make a difference and her car starts instantly now! She is very pleased!

Cracked Spark Plugs
Found that FOUR of the eight new spark plugs purchased had hairline cracks in the white ceramic insulator jackets, had to re-use four of my old plugs as I seriously doubt that the store would exchange them since I had installed the and afterwards found the skip problem on a friends code reader.

Im confused.. isnt the 514 the old 2 piece design? This is listed as 514… the new 547 is listed separate but the photo looks like a 2 piece.. which is which?

Hi Kevin, I'm glad to assist you! The Motorcraft Spark Plug - Part # SP-514 is the old 2-piece design. While the Motorcraft Spark Plug - Part # SP-547 supersede the older version as a one-piece plug. Apparently, the cathode is welded to the anode so although part # SP-547 is technically a one-piece plug, it's actually made from two pieces welded together. The enhancement on the part # SP-547 is that instead of relying on just a crimp like the first generation plug # SP-514, they add a weld point or two to the shell-to-body seam to better secure it to the rest of the body to reduce the chance of separation.
