Mothers Headlight Renewal Kit: Restore Clarity & Protect

Being something that Mother's makes, I was expecting a great product and I got it. I bought a 1999 Tahoe LT and the headlights were yellowed and the taillights were dingy, so I wanted something to make them look better and be easier to see at night. I saw this in the ad for $5 off and was standing in the store reading the box when another customer walked by and said it's worth the money. Most of the other headlight restoration products were around the same price, but I have always loved Mother's products. If you are in the need for something to take off the yellow build up, this is what you need!!!!

I wish I could give this product five starts, but I just can't. The sandpaper discs were entirely too thin and I ran out of each grit before I could do a thorough job. Sandpaper is cheap, you think they could have included double the amount of paper in the kit, or made each disc twice as thick. I was pleased with the results that I did see. The parts that I did get to sand better came out really well. But I would have to buy a second kit to get more results - I'd rather just buy some sanding discs on my own and finish the job. For the price of two kits I could have almost bought a new pair of aftermarket headlights. The instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. The only thing they could have included that was missing was a small microfiber cloth (I wouldn't have expected a spray bottle for the water in such a small box). There is a lot of polish left over, I assume for future use? I would have rather them skimp on the polish (half as much) and instead include more sandpaper. They should realize that some people would like to restore older cars' headlights, and that takes more work and more materials. I would recommend this item, but with the disclaimer that if you have an older car with more yellowing, you should probably skip the kit and just get a new pair of headlight lenses.
