Quality product

This part isn't hard to diagnose. You can simply slide under the vehicle and tug on the steering linkage, or use a prybar. If the part is original the wear by now will be very obvious.
The linkage should be tight with little movement. If this part is bad, any disturbance (braking, bumps, etc) will make the linkage move (change geometry) and thus change wheel toe, causing one one wheel to point slightly in another direction.
Idler arm is the pivot point on the right side. If this part is bad you may experience pulling or vibration while braking, poor handling when you hit a bump and tracking to a side when driving. I almost thought I had a warped rotor!
I installed this without lifting the vehicle in a bit over an hour, but I had air tools. Was a 98 Grand Marquis. Took a bit of time to get the corroded cotter pin out in that tight position. There was some corrosion, used lots of penetrant and the frame bolts didn't spin out of their splines. Also, you have to twist the part just right so it aligns with the frame when you install.
Thread cutting Grease fittings are best installed with an 8mm gearwrench with your finger holding the top down.
This is a Quality product that will likely last the life of the vehicle. These fit many RWD Ford vehicles from the late 70s to around 2002. The insert had a 1989 date so it is a time tested design, and major improvement over the original (which has serviceable bushings meant to wear).
Be sure to lube this part every 3-4K miles. If you do that it will probably last forever. Make sure you either DIY or remind the lube place to grease the joints. Some places don't, or you have to pay a bit more.
