MOOG Problem Solver products incorporate proven design and engineering features to ensure like new steering, ease of installation and longer life. MOOG is the preferred steering and suspension parts brand of professional technicians and NASCAR Crew Chiefs.

Product Features:
  • Problem Solver® powdered metal gusher bearing design enables grease to flow through the bearing to the stud for reduced friction and enhanced strength and stability.
  • Problem Solver® patented cover plate design allows for tighter tolerances vs traditional cover plate designs, providing a more durable and extended life part.
  • Exclusive cover plate protects against contaminants leaking into the bearing surface.
  • MOOG® engineered steel composition results in a stronger component. Full ball metal stud provides 360 degrees of smooth, consistent, rotational movement resulting in more responsive steering.
  • An enlarged ball joint receptacle in the lower control arm can cause a loose ball joint fit. MOOG® Problem Solver® design includes an oversized housing for a more secure fit.
  • Zinc plated housing to help prevent galvanic corrosion between the aluminum knuckle and ball joint housing.

These were bought to replace ball joints on a 97 Lincoln Continental front wheel knuckle. Found that they also replace the rear wheel spindle ball joints. Both front and rear ball joints are the same and are easy to press out and just as easy to press back in. Don't let anyone tell you the front or rear ball joints can't be replaced. They just want to sell you a new front wheel knuckle and or rear wheel spindle with the new ball joints in them. Either one is very expensive and a big waste of your hard earned money.

First the parts I received were black not blue like the picture. Wonder if they carry the blue or if its a generic picture, or they are putting a lower cost part in the box. The retainer that holds the ball joint boot onto the ball joint housing is flimsy. I paid extra for a premium part but seemed like value grade. The retainer popped off when I lowered the car. Had to press in another ball joint. Advance was good about the return so I give them a thumbs up

Comments about MOOG Ball Joint:

Exact fit part, but requires ball joint press to remove and install. Reinstall of steering knuckle is difficult to do without help.

                  Comments about MOOG Ball Joint:

I first bought another cheaper ball joint which Advanced A/P sells -trying to save the customer some money -I'm bad as I installed the new inferior ball joint it broke when I put the car down on the ground. I had to do the whole job over -I ate the Labor so its definitely its not worth buying the cheaper "Ball Joint" Advanced A/P sells. I know I can't say the companys name or they won't accept this comment but you can figger it out when you look for the parts !!!!

Good question, Mike! The product image is only a reference and the actual part may vary from that. This Moog Ball Joint - Part No. K8687 has a polychloroprene boot with grease relief valve, so that the ball joint would be protected from contaminants and be serviceable (greased). This ball joint does not come with grease fitting.
