I installed this shock #5988 on my 2002 BMW 325i WITHOUT sports package. Should I have purchased the #5998 instead? Did not read the fine details between the two, my ride DOES seem kinda funky now. Is there a noticeable difference between the two?

Yes, BMW Driver! You'll need the Monroe OESpectrum Passenger Car Shock Absorber - Part # 5998 for your 2002 BMW 325i without Sport Suspension. The Monroe OESpectrum Passenger Car Shock Absorber - Part # 5988 is a stock replacement for a 2001-05 BMW 325i.
Is this part comparable with the 1999 323i with sport suspension package?

No, Will. You'll need the Monroe OESpectrum Passenger Car Shock Absorber - Part # 5981 for your 1999 BMW 323i with Sport Suspension.
The picture does not look like the struts on my car.. Is this an "insert" type replacement ? Will it really fit my '99 BMW 3 convertible ? It's an e-36 body..
