Monroe® OESpectrum® shock absorbers are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.
  • 1-3/8 inch (34.9 mm) bore (On most applications)
  • 5/8-inch (15.9 mm) diameter piston rod (On most applications)

Definitely go with this shock over the cheaper base model of shock Monroe makes. I started with the base model for my '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the value. Although they felt a lot better then the OEM shocks that had 190k miles on them they still didn't feel that great after a month of driving on them. I later exchanged them with the Sensa-Trac shocks and they had tons better ride & firmness.

Bought these to replace the worn shocks on my 04 Grand Cherokee. Install took about an hour with basic tools. First impression was they rode extremely rough for an OEM quality replacement. Washboard roads were even worse. We felt every bump, crack, crevice, dip...everything. Over harsh bumps the Jeep felt more controled, but jarred your teeth at the same time. At first I thought I received the wrong part #s but Monroe's website confirmed they were correct. I gave them a week hoping they'd get better and they didn't so I returned them. AAP took them back without issue. If you're looking for a soft and smooth ride, these aren't the shocks for you. I have Bilsteins on my lifted ZJ and it rode better than my stock WJ with these. Back to stock shocks for now until I can afford Bilsteins.

Easy to install. Replaced rear shocks on Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Had a Clunking noise after installing. Checked specs and used a torque wrench to tighten. Clunk is gone and ride is excellent. Highly recommend.

          Very Disappointed

Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber:

Decided to get a better grade shock with the hope of a better ride. Wrong. Rough ride and rear end bottoms out with each bump in the pavement. Took Jeep to trusted mechanic who specializes in suspensions and found that suspension was not the issue but suspected the shocks. Hopefully, I won't have a hassle in getting a refund. Going back to a basic pair of shocks.

Installed on the rear of a 2004 Jeep Cherokee with 86000 miles. Got rid of the noise from bad shock and now rides smooth and solid. Should also help when pulling a trailer. Installation was easy.
