Monroe Complete Strut Assembly: Includes Strut, Coil Spring, and Mount

my 2007 Ford f150 has 188,000 miles on it. This is the 3rd set of Roadmatic strut assembly's I have installed on it. They take me less than 2 hours t install start to finish and always make the truck ride like new again. I have been trying to stick to changing then every 60,000 miles, give or take a few thousand miles, and in twelve years of ownership they are the only pieces of my front suspension I have had to change. I think changing them regularly has helped prolong the life of the rest of my front end. A shop will charge you $1,000 or more to do this.......with an advanced auto parts 25% off code I paid less than $250 for the parts.......a good purchase.

These were put on a 2007 Lincoln Mark LT. Thinking I was going to save some money, I purchased these online with a 25% off coupon. Two were just over $200. Easy installation, but found out I lost a lot in ride quality. The shocks that were on my lincoln were stock with 165,000 miles on them. The only reason I was changing them, I had a broken spring, which is fairly common on these trucks (Mark LT is a F150). Even with that much mileage, they road nice. Not too loose and not too stiff. With these new struts, I found the truck to bounce all over the place. When going over a speed bump at my work, which I had gone over with this truck thousands of times, the front of my truck would bounce 3 to 4 times at slow speed. At highway speeds, I felt like I was in a boat. Some of you older fella's remember what some of the old big cars from the 70's felt like. It was like that. By the time that I had the time to take them off and return them, a person in the store said that I had went past a 45 day window to return. Decided to go with the Bilstein 5100 shock inserts. When pulling my original struts apart, found a lot of corrosion in the upper section. So ended up using these struts and replacing the inserts with the bilsteins. Good thing I still had the stock struts, had to use the bottom spring plates from them. All in all, I had a pretty lousy experience with these struts and Advanced Auto. Have purchased a fair amount of parts from them and usually turned out well. Will think twice next time when deciding where to purchase parts. Advanced or...........?!?!?!?!!?!
