NO oil pump o ring installed
Staff Reviewer -
The oil pump comes assembled on the pump body WITH the bolts torqued. You would think that if that was done then all gaskets or sealers were in place especially if no o ring was included in the packaging. WRONG...after putting it together and taking it apart several times to figure out why it was leaking I finally pulled the oil pump off only to discover that there was no o ring installed. Very, very frustrating. Also the bottom left bolt is very difficult to install because a flange was left to high or not ground down at an angle, which causes no amount of grief trying to get that last bolt tightened. As the bolt goes in the head goes below the flange not allowing a socket or wrench to stay on for tightening. Overall a very bad experience with this product.

Good quality and value

Included everything I needed pertaining to the oil-pump installation. This was done along with water pump; timing belt and camshaft seal replacement, so as far as ease of installation, the oil-pump was pretty-much exposed, so in that respect, the job was easy. However, if I was only doing the oil-pump, the job would have obviously been much more difficult...not the oil-pump manufacturer's fault, of course. Any of the transverse engine cars are pretty-much what I would classify as "difficult" to do this job on.

Pump Failed in Less Then 15 Miles

Pump was missing factory sealed O-Ring gasket. Corporate was notified and issued partial refund. I installed O-Ring gasket and so far no problems. I also had to replace the 2 factory installed bolts as they were too long and putting pump in a flex state. I bought this pump after issues with cheap Chinese pumps which lasted only 10K miles on average. Imagine my surprise when the Melling name brand pump failed in less then 15 miles!
Would purchase again if needed
