Comments about Locksmart Ignition Lock Cylinder:

Went right in, no problem with installation at all. Only con, which is a Ford thing, is now I have to pay a pretty penny to program the transponder to be compatible with my PATS system.

Comments about Locksmart Ignition Lock Cylinder:

Part was to replace an ignition lock cylinder that had been broken new part worked great just had to have the new part re coded since the truck that it was replaced in has the anti theft system took it to a local lock smith & he was able to do that for a fee of course part was just as described and was easy to install so make sure that you do all the homework when replacing it so that you know that it will work properly & effectively I would recommend product to others just make sure that you get everything reprogrammed and recoded thanks

      A:

Hi James! Since you didn't mention the specific vehicle, it's hard to tell for sure. To give you the correct information about the passlock ignition key lock cylinder replacement and relearn/recode procedure I would need the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle.

  • Q:

2002 ford explorer eddie bauer 4x4 4.6 v8. I have lost all my keys so my question is can the ignition lock cylinder be removed without a key so I can install this new lock cylinder?
Asked on 9/11/2014 by jon from loris,sc

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

I'm happy to help, Jon! The ignition lock cylinder can be replaced on a 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4x4 with a 4.6L V8 without keys. The retaining pin will need to be drilled out with a 3/16" bit to remove the lock cylinder. You will still need to have a dealership help you program the new keys to work with the vehicle. A repair manual should provide detailed procedures, Part No. 36025.

Also, this Locksmart Ignition Lock Cylinder (Part No. LC63180) is designed for the 2 door model. For the 4 door you will need Part No. LC63560.
