You'll be glad that you have this specialty tool

The O2 Sensor socket has a slit or cutout which allows the device to sit over the O2 Sensor directly from the top. You'll have to work the wire for the sensor through the side of the socket, but once in place it will not slip. It has six sides that perfectly fit the sensor nut. I have an offset 12 point sensor tool which usually works, but it can get stuck in tight spaces and requires more torque to break loose frozen sensors. You'll feel like to price of less than $20 is well worth the price. I got the online purchase discount making the deal that much sweeter.
Definitely a must, can't go wrong

Works much better than making your own, for the price it's a must
