The function of the 'Umbrella type' check valve is that it is closed except when taking fuel into the diaphragm.Once the accelerator pump is primed and full, the ' umbrella type' check valve remains shut and only opens when the diaphragm has discharged fuel into tthe engine and is on its return stroke. An image for this Umbrella check valve on a carburetor has been sent to the mail address provided.
