Gunk Engine Brite Degreaser 15 Oz

I originally purchased this as an alternative to brake cleaner for degreasing my engine, cleaning off some parts under the hood, etc. I found the brake cleaner effective but this was more mild and recommended by a friend for the safety of my engine's rubber parts and electric insulation. I would use gloves when using this product, it dries out the hands.

This cleaner was used on a slightly warm engine that had a slight valve cover leak. I sprayed it on, let sit for 15 minutes and hosed it off. It hardly removed any oil at all. I repeated and it did a little better. I did notice that it left white blotches on my windshield and painted surfaces where it may have been splashed while rinsing. Instead of a clean and shiny look, it left my hoses and engine cover covered with a foggy residue. The can has trouble spraying unless you hold it horizontally the whole time but to do an engine, that is rarely possible. I'm searching for a better product.
