The objective of this running surface profile is to create a lubrication slot with a hydrodynamic film which the piston ring can slide on without touching the other surface. An optimized asymmetrical-barrelled running surface ensures low lubricant consumption even after a very long running time. Goetze piston rings have anti-scuffing properties that promote smooth engine operation, reduced oil consumption and long engine life.
