Needed to replace CV axles on a 2005 Dodge Neon. Since the axles connect to transmission, it would be a lot cleaner to do a (controlled) trans pan drop, replace filter and fluid. Scraped off old gasket carefully with a razor and applied new gasket, install new filter and bolt pan back up. Refill fluid through transmission dipstick.

So far so good, good replacement for original gasket, seems to be holding up, wasn't impressed with the plastic threaded guide pins. Maybe it was how the oil pan had to go on a certain way but I broke all four in half and hoped like heck they would come back out through the oil pan, which they did.
