Smaller than the one removed but not sure if the one removed was swelled from the heat. The new o-ring sealed the thermostat housing fine.

I strongly do not recommend buying this part
I thought I did the correct thing by replacing the O ring gasket with the thermostat. It is leaking and apparently I'm not the only one experiencing this. I now have to completely redo this job and either put the original O ring back in or buy one from the Ford dealership.

Part sold as seal for 4.0 ltr mountaineer thermostat seal. Didn't seal used old original seal. Threw away.

I have a 2006 Ranger with a 4.0 I bought new thermostat and this O ring This O ring would not seal it was leaking I had to take it apart and use my old one to stop leak all is good now !
