N.0 need for Permatex. My old corks leaked all over, like all over the garage floor. Mustang 5.0 had the giant intake that was tough to get off with vac, lines and wires. These rubber gaskets are the best you donbecause they are firm for easy line up w/ the covers. Also because they are thick you don't have to worry as much about crushing them like cork.Take your time and label or picture if your doing a Mustang with all the little things. Make sure you tape off the intake so nothing falls in- it could spell disaster!!!
