      A:

Yes, Gerald, you will need two bearings, one for the driver side and one for the passenger side.

Answered on 4/28/2017 by Steve from AAP
    • A:

It's best to use two, if one side has gone bad, it's a good probability
that the other side has some wear also.

      Gerald,
There is only 1 rear axle bearing on a 1999 Ford F150.

    • A:

Use one per axle (one per side). It is an assembly for one side and includes the seal as well, so you don't need a separate seal as you would with the original setup. I've used dozens of these and they work well. Make sure you clean all the grime and rust from the axle out near the flange as this bearing runs out farther than the original and will be damaged by a rusty axle surface.

I used the 6408 bearing 1 on the left axle and 1 on the right. I never used the repair bearing.

      A:

Happy to help you with your question Tallguy! This bearing would go in until it's flush with the axle housing. There is a lip on the inside of the axle housing that will stop the bearing from going too far in.

I'm happy to help, Donnie! This Driveworks Axle Repair Bearing (Part No. S-RP-6408) is made to replace the wheel bearing and is engineered to replace both the bearing and the conventional seal requiring no additional parts. A wedding band sleeve is not required. The repair bearing moves the position of the bearing and seal so that they ride on an unworn section of the axle shaft.
