The factory oil filter adapter on millions of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram V6 powered vehicles often leaks oil when its plastic housing warps from harsh underhood conditions. As the plastic eventually degrades from heat and chemical exposure, it can even crack from simply tightening the oil filter cap during oil changes. When it fails, replacing it with an OEM housing could mean the same issues again in the future. This Dorman OE FIX filter housing is made entirely of aluminum for a more durable replacement of only the failure-prone OEM housing to help prevent future leaks. It also includes all the necessary gaskets for an effective repair.

A Big Improvement over OEM
If you're going to go to the trouble of replacing the Housing/Cooler assembly it pays to use the Aluminum Dorman version. Everything I needed, minus the sensors (which get swapped for the original part) was included. A couple of YouTube videos showed how to get to part and Dorman gives instructions on completing the swap. Removing and installing the upper intake manifold was BY FAR the worst part of the operation.
Don't buy one of the off-brand knock-offs. Only the Dorman version is made in the USA.
A helpful hint for working on a Grand Cherokee: Take the 10 minutes to remove the windshield cowl and upper shield. The extra room is a big help.

One off?
Installed after the plastic one atarted leaking. I was impressed at the quality and improvement initially. After it was installed no oil preasure. After some investigating the port for the oil pressure sender was not machined all the way through. Was able to drill the hole out carefully because i was in a pinch but should not have been an issue in my opinion. Maybe it was a one off but who knows.
