Product Information

Product Details
Part No. 924-706
Warranty Details (Limited Lifetime Warranty)
Certain Chrysler and Dodge automatic shifters can get stuck in park when the original shift interlock latch (the infamous "pink thingy") snaps. Replace a failed plastic latch with this Dorman OE FIX upgrade made from sturdy aluminum for greater durability and more reliable performance. This part saves the cost of buying an entire new shifter assembly when only one part is preventing proper shift function, and it is engineered to help prevent the shift interlock from breaking in the future. This aluminum latch comes with a new spring for a complete repair.

Product Features:
  • Upgraded repair - this shift interlock latch features aluminum construction designed to provide increased reliability on specified Chrysler and Dodge vehicles
  • Saves money - this shift interlock latch (sometimes called the "pink thingy") is designed to save money by replacing a broken latch instead of replacing the entire shifter assembly
  • Complete solution - this kit includes a new latch spring to help ensure a professional and predictable repair
  • Trustworthy quality - backed by a team of product experts in the United States and more than a century of automotive experience

Shift Interlock Latch-05 Chrysler 300
Staff Reviewer -
I have been unable to get my 2005 Chrysler 300 out of park for over a year now! It would go into park, but wouldn't come out. In order to take it out of park, I would have to carry a screw driver with me wherever I drove, and use that to move the cable to the left in order to get the car out of park. If this doesn't make sense, Google shift interlock park cable and you will see the YouTube video on how to perform this handy fix! But in order to park, I would have to leave the car in neutral with the parking brake applied. After contacting Chrysler over this issue three times, I finally gave in and decided to order the replacement part and put it in myself. (I am a female by the way who works with computers, not on cars!!!!) I searched the internet on how to perform the replacement and with the help of a male friend, we were able to replace this part in three hours. Now that we know what we are doing, we are thinking about advertising on [...] to replace it for others. We figure we can now replace this shift interlock part in one hour or less! Thanks Chrysler for not owning up to the fact that although my car was not made on a certain day at a certain plant and does not have the correct VIN to qualify for a replacement shifter it really does have the same issues as the cars you have been recalling! Now that's what I call Customer Service!!!!! NOT!!!!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

The factory plastic one lasted 15 years. See how long this lasts.

It's the part that should have been installe to begin with.
Transmission Shift Interlock Latch replacement part

I replaced this part in my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. The original factory part was plastic and had already experienced multiple failures (according to info gathered on Google). The same part was recalled by Chrysler for the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger; but not the Pacifica, even though it was the same part (probably because the Pacificas through 2008 were those made under their alliance with Mercedes and they were not concerned about them anymore). The replacement part from Dorman is metal and was a perfect fit. I am satisfied with the part.
