Dorman Transfer Case Shift Motor

99 Explorer. Both 4WD low and high lights on dash started to flash 6 times quite often and 4WD would not engage. Might have just been corrosion, but motor replacement solved my problem. Be aware that 7 wires need to be transferred by removing the red retainer in the original connector and then using a tiny screw driver to release 1 wire at a time being sure to insert them in the correct corresponding numbered hole until they click/lock in place. Wires are color coded and holes are numbered. I hung the motors side by side to orient the connectors. Cut and splice not recommended. I didn't have a diagram so I wrote down the wire colors and hole numbers to avoid a mistake. The bolt that goes thru a harness clip is a bit of a challenge, but otherwise a simple install. I maybe lucked out, but your problem could be an upstream electrical problem so you might want to test for that first if you can.
