Would buy again .
Easy to install.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
LEDs inside point up inside lenses!
LED alignment inside the lense point upwards instead of directly outwards for best illumination. It lights for legal purpose buy not effective as a third brake lamp!

Too expensive for what it is, but it works
Being this is pretty much the only aftermarket alternative to the overpriced oem parts ($350 plus) they kinda have you over a barrell here as you pretty much HAVE to have this lamp by law.
The one I bought was missing a rivet hole for the trim bracket, so I had to drill that. The plug on the light has to be cut off so you can fish the wire through the hole and then re-connected. They were nice enough to include butt connectors for this. I decided to solder instead as the butt connectors will eventualy corrode and loose contact.
install was pretty straight forwad after that. I did have to take a soldering gun and melt the plastic prongs that keep the light fastened to the top of the trim so that it would sit flush with the hatch.
None of this is in the instructions...because there are no instructons. I know enough to figure it out but the average Joe may not.
Got everything together and tested the light...the LEDs are in the housing crooked and slope down to the passenger side of the truck. Light is bright enough to pass state inspection, but not as bright as what it replaces.
All said with the quality of the product, its a $40-$50 product tops. I would say I'd steer clear of this, but at the moment you don't have much of a choice if yours is bad.

would not buy again
the light is not very bright.you can barely see it when you step on the brake in the daytime. If the installation of the trim did not have rivets, I would have taken it back out and returned it. would not buy again or recommend it.

Good Product but some modifications need
Works fine as a replacement for the 2 part factory system with 2 caveats: 1. Carefully preserve the trim panel on your old light as you'll need it, and Ford ONLY sells that panel with a replacement lamp. 2. The electrical plug is too big to fit through the existing hole and they perversely put it on the wrong end (not where the old hole was). Otherwise no problems.
