Does not last as long as the GM original manufacturer part
Dorman needs to improve this part. It only had about 35K miles on it. I pulled the Dorman part out of my 2006 Grand Prix, because I had about of 20 degrees of play in my steering wheel. I initially thought the, ball joints, tie rods, or the rack was, all, or some, going bad, with a $2000+ repair bill. What happened was, the bushing on the main part of the Dorman shaft failed, and became soft over time. The "rivet pin" in the main shaft was all the kept the steering wheel from rotating freely. I could actually rotate the shaft, with rivet pin play back & forth easily, with in my hands!
I have been repairing my cars for over 40 years. This is the first time I have ever replace a steering shaft in any of my vehicles. This pulled Dorman part was put in by the previous owner, at a shop. The repair is not an easy do it yourself, but can be done. The new OEM part #25913680 has no play, and car handles like a Grand Prix again!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
