Dorman - Help Tailgate Hinge Insert Kit - and - Bed and Gate Side

I used this kit for a 2000 Ram 2500. The pieces that fit in the tailgate holes were very tight, so tight I thought they were over size. I had to sand the steel hinge and lubricate it with silicon. But still had to use a piece of flat iron across the part, and then hammer the flat iron to get them seated into place. The other two slide over pieces went on no problem. Reinstalled the tailgate, works like new. I'm happy, although I think the inserts are a little too tight.

Chose this part because it was supposed to be a match for a 1998 Ford F150 tailgate replacement hinge kit. Only one part in this kit actually fit the tail gate hinge but it was a very flimy plastic piece and definitely could not hold the weight of the tail gate. As soon as I engaged the gate to the hinge the plastic piece just crumbled and failed to insert itself in the tail gate opening. Maybe the OEM part was sturdier but this was not. I don't understand why someone thought that this flimsy piece could hold up a truck tail gate! Wasted my money. Would not recommend it either. I went and bought the part from a Ford dealer and experienced the same thing! Metal would be a better option.
