  • Q:

If there is a small cut in the middle of the diaphragm/gasket that looks like it was poked by a sharp knife, would this make the brakes spongy or dangerous, or is it supposed to have a small slice for air?

Hi Me Again, I'm glad to assist you! This Dorman - Help Brake Master Cylinder Gasket (Part No. 42072) wouldn't damage your brake as there would be a very small slit for air.

  • Q:

when this gasket go bad do you lose brake pressure when trying to stop.
Asked on 3/7/2015 by poncho from canal winchester ohio

    1 answer

Hi poncho, it's actually a good question! Usually the brakes will work fine if you apply them quickly and sometimes the pedal will go to the floor if you apply them gently. The pedal slowly sinks to the floor is a classic symptom of a failing gasket on the master cylinder.
