Leaks after 1 month, plastic warps and seal expands
I've replaced three of these on my 03 VW Passat, 1.8ltr turbo. After about a month they start leaking. I thought I had the seal installed incorrectly, or maybe I over tightened the flange bolts. No, I finally realized that the flat surface that is bolted to the block was warping. This occurred on all three units! Also the gasket that is supplied with the unit expands in such a way that it becomes much larger than the space allocated for it. I have a strong hunch that this expanding seal is the reason for the warping. I run the recommended Pentofrost coolant. Very disappointed! I wish I could add up all the hours I've spent troubleshooting and repairing this problem along with the multiple purchases of Pentofrost at $13 a bottle.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
