AT LEAST AS GOOD AS OEM
These backing plates are AT LEAST as strong as the originals, maybe better. The ones on my 02 Suburban rusted away to nothing. They come in two pieces and fit on with very little trouble. The best part is that you don't need to remove the axles to install them like the one piece version of this part.
The OEM plates are one piece, but mine were so rusted that I was able to rip most of them off with a pliers, and the rest I could cut through with a medium-weight set of wire cutters. Installation requires removal of the two caliper bolts and the four bolts that hold the hub to the diff tubes. (Bring a breaker bar and a short impact socket to that party!!) The plate sits between the e-brake plate and diff tube.

assumed the product would slide together easily.after deciding to use some force, the shield went on over the parkbrake actuator.a little note or instruction would have saved time.

Just what I was looking for.

Needs some sort of instructions. Power coated to prevent rust but you will still scrape some off while installing. It saves you so much time its well worth the price.
Saves a lot of time, I would buy again.

This split backing plate was easy to install on my 2004 Silverado. My first time ever, boy was
I glad they make a two piece. I did not want to pull the axle. I did have to get a 3/8 breaker bar, as the clearance for bolt removal was minimal. My 1/2" breaker and socket would not fit.
