Great battery, great local service
2019 VW Tiguan needed a replacement battery. Dealer wanted $500+ for battery and install (for a standard flooded battery - I upgraded to an AGM whih VW actually now recommends due to the start/stop feature). The reason most prople end up going to the dealer is that the battery needs to be "registered" in the car. This tells the car what kind of battery it is, and most importantly, the age of the battery (new). Modern cars (at least VW and BMW) have "smart charging" that changes the charging profile as it ages to extend battery life. That's what the big install charge comes from at the dealership. Advance Auto Parts is the ONLY parts dealer that has the equipment to register a new battery in your car. The problem is that most don't know it. After calling several stores, I finally found one in Ypsilanti, MI that would listen to me, and take a look at the test equipment given them by Advance Auto to terst batteries. Sure enough, it has the feature for registering the battery. And, even thought they had never done it before, they were willing to look at the instructions and figure it out (it was pretty simple). So kudos to the local store manager on duty. Less happy with Advance Auto corporate that has a great idea, hands out equipment to provide an important service, then does not provide any training or even a notification that the local shops are supposed to offer this. Anyway, no charge for the installation or registering so I got a new battery for about half the cost of taking to the dealer.

My first one had an internal failure at four months and could barely start my car on a full charge. Manufactured November 2025, failed March 2026. I got a one time free exchange in store. I struggled a little with the manager in order to get the replacement since the battery load testing device they use said my battery was good but needed to be charged. But I was just driving the car and I knew my alternator was working so it was as charged as it was going to get. She said the other option was to leave the battery at the store for them to charge for hours and check again later. But then I have no car. I ultimately had to prove my alternator was working properly using my own voltage readout while the car was running. Then I was given a replacement. Hopefully that was just a manufacturing issue and my second one lasts. You only get one replacement, even if your replacement fails.

I will never buy this battery again !!!
2 yrs ago bought this battery for my Ford F-150, went bad the 1st yr. Got it replaced and within the next yr it goes bad. Took it back and got a new replacement and was told that if this one goes bad in this next yr that'll I'll have to buy a new one because I got my 3 yrs although it took 3, 3 yr batteries to get 3 yrs out of it. Come on, a 3 yr battery should last 3 yrs, not make you have to lose time going back and forth to be replaced and on my replacement receipt it says my warranty begins 3-4-22 and ends 3-4-2025 but the guy said that wasn't the case that the began from my original purchase. Well I got a receipt that say different and if it goes bad in a yr I will file small claims suit to get my money back because as I said, my receipt say my warranty ends on 3-4-2025. I wouldn't recommend this piece of junk of a battery to my worse enemy !!! 😡😡😡
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
Pricey, but a Good Battery
I bought this battery on January 2 for my 2018 Ford F-150. On a 5 degree morning this battery spins my 5.0L V-8 over faster than the original battery did in warm summer weather. I am impressed.

Don't forget to take the vent plug out of your old battery
I typically buy the 'best' battery. I found it confusing the AGM is the highest price, but has a 3 year warrenty compared to the conventional wet battery, which has a 4 year warranty. My last wet battery lasted 6 years, so this time I am trying a AGM, which are 'supposed to' last longer. I also do not fit OEM size batteries. I fit the largest battery that will fit the tray. Porsche fits a group 47 as OE, but the tray has the correct hold down for a 48. So, I fit the 48, which is about the same dimensions as a H7. My disappointment with this battery is that it didn't come with a hose kit. My hose fit, but I had to pry out the plug for the other side. If you buy this battery, don't forget to stick a plug in the other side that doesn't have the hose. I think the vendor should supply a hose kit, When I bought my wet battery 6 year ago, they did. now they don't. Just beware.
It fits
It's a 3 year battery. between now and then, I will let you know if it is any good. The prices have gone up astronomically....Thank you Bran don.

The battery was a great purchase but the customer service sucks! After paying over $200+ for this purchase the customer service rep would not install it! Said he was busy even though I was the only customer in the store with two sales rep in the store. I WILL NO LONGER BE A CONSUMER WITH THIS FRANCHISE!!
