Always Want a Diehard Gold
I bought a Diehard Silver, online ended up with a Autocraft Silver at the local store. I went to the store 20 minutes before it closed, driving my 2005 Ford Ranger FX4, that had my old battery in it, it still worked, it was a competitor battery sticker date of 12/2011, they were astonished it still worked. I took my old battery out, a employee carried the new battery for me and put it in my battery box, and I installed it the rest of the way under just the front store lights. Anyway 3 weeks later I opened the hood of my Ranger and realized it did not say Diehard Silver. I am fully aware the Autocraft Silver and Diehard Silver are made exactly alike. My Ranger only has 53,000 miles on it. I have numerous lights, and add ons that I am going to install, and that I will be needing a higher amp battery. I wanted a Diehard Gold or Diehard AGM from the start. My Ranger takes a group size 59-3, small battery box. All the battery measurements are not exactly right on Advance Auto Parts website, some are measured width and length at the top of the battery, not the bottom. So I decided to go to the Advance Auto Parts store where I bought the Autocraft Silver, measured them all. I finally settled on the size 34 Diehard Gold, (they had no size 34 Diehard AGM is stock). How?, I went home and in 45 minutes I increased the length of my battery box to 10 1/2 inches. The Diehard Gold Group Size 34 is in fact 10 1/4 inches at it's base. I have a adjustable side battery retainer for the smaller width. There is a little trick you can do do make sure the battery being higher does not hit your vehicle hood, I have a 2 inch piece of soft Styrofoam, put it over the battery terminals and shut the hood, the negative forward post barely indented the battery 1/8 of a inch, so I knew I had almost 2 inches of clearance for the higher battery. The employees at the store accommodated me, letting me exchange the Autocraft Silver for my Diehard Gold. A+ FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Two bad batteries in a row...
This is the 2nd model of this battery that has gone stone cold bad on me. Will NOT hold a charge. Advance was nice enough (eventually) to swap out the first battery for me. Now the 2nd and nearly new battery has done the same exact thing. The warranty is only as good as the original purchase, so I now have a brand new but drained battery. I can continue to keep jumping it off, or just bite the bullet and find something else. Run away, far away from this battery.
