The Evaporative Emission System is designed to control fuel vapors in the vehicle fuel storage system to prevent any release of fuel vapors into the atmosphere. In a normally operating system, released vapors from the fuel storage tank will be directed into an on-board charcoal canister via a piping system and control valves. Under the most ideal engine operating condition, the vapors will be pulled into the engine to be burned during the normal combustion process. The Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid allows oxygen into the charcoal canister so that vapors can flow to the engine when commanded.
