The Evaporative Emission System is designed to control fuel vapors in the vehicle fuel storage system to prevent any release of fuel vapors into the atmosphere. In a normally operating system, released vapors from the fuel storage tank will be directed into an on-board charcoal canister via a piping system and control valves. Under the most ideal engine operating condition, the vapors will be pulled into the engine via a vapor Canister Purge Solenoid to be burned during the normal combustion process.
