I recommend having the store test the new starter before you take it home and spend time testing your electrical system wondering whats wrong only to find out the starter was shorted out right out of the box. second one worked like a champ.

Bad day at Advance auto parts
My son picked up the part for me. The lady at the store checked to make sure that they really had the one starter left. She confirmed there was one left. I got it home and the starter was really dirty and it looked used. I ignored that and installed it anyway. Needless to say the truck did not start. i returned the part to the store. The starter was somebodies broken starter core. The gentleman at the store was unfamiliar with returning online orders. After multiple attempts his cowaorker returned and she helped him process the return.
