Don't buy brake calipers from Advance!
Submitted 5 years ago
No brake caliper I've ever bought from Advance has lasted for long before locking up again. On average they last only about 2 years. I researched the typical lifespan of a caliper and it's about 10 years. When I tried to get it replaced based on the warranty after only 22 months of service they refused to do it at the store. I had to call Customer Care who is sending me a reimbursement check minus the tax and only for the caliper, not the pads and rotor their defective caliper destroyed, and only as a "courtesy", not because they admitted they're wrong.

Lasted 5 years

I bought left and right calipers. Around the 5 year mark one leaked(not safe) and one is nearly seized (months apart). Originals lasted 15 years and 130K miles, one was had bad parking brake lever, the other was good. Good quality there.
Good part is the warranty, but you have to bleed the brakes and spring for new pads with each problem. This time I'll try to get the brake pads warrantied. There may be a different supplier now, so YMMV.

Wrong Pin bolt !!?? Had to use old pin
Staff Reviewer - Submitted 13 years ago
Everything was separate in the box in separate bags, sealed. How do they put one metric bolt and one standard bolt in the same bag??? Didn't realize that until I cross threaded the standard bolt into the metric pin ruining it's threads so I had to use an old pin I was removing. Sub-par quality control there. Made a simple job very aggravating.
