Get it tested before you install it! Mine were DOA.
Two of these modules were defective upon receipt! I demanded my money back. I purchased one in April of 2026 for a 1987 Ford Escort. I used the heat sink compound that was included in the box. Installed part. Car started bucking and jerking as if I was riding a wild bull. The jerking got worse when I turned on the blower fan and air conditioning. I started looking at replacing the throttle position sensor and fuel injector. The jerking didn't start until I installed this module. I removed the module and took it to Auto Zone for testing. The module failed the "Threshold" test. I swapped the defective module at Advance. I took the new module to Auto Zone to be tested. It too failed the test. I tested the modules at two different Auto Zones to eliminate a defective tester machine. Ford discontinued this module years ago. I found a dealer that had one left over. I had it shipped and tested the module at Auto Zone. It passed the test. I installed it and no more jerking. There are plenty of vehicles still on the road that use this module. The modules have disappeared off the market. The OEM Ford modules failed early on. Ford issued a recall which no dealer is aware of today. Standard Ignition offers a module with a part number LX-225. Advance might consider sourcing the modules from Standard. Advance should have an ignition module tester in its stores. Tip: If the original module is black in color then replace the module with one that is black in color. If the original module is gray in color then replace the module with one that is gray in color. The black modules were for the gas engines with throttle body injection and automatic transmission (Escort Pony and GL). The gray modules were for the Escort GT's with multiport fuel injection and manual transmissions. There are plenty of gray modules left on the market. The black modules have disappeared from the market because of the OEM defect and they get really hot and burn up because they are mounted under the distributor.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
